Description: Saxony Model 1867 Officer sword with portepee. Marker marked on the blade in gilt HAST & UHTHOFF DRESDEN and EISENHAUER GARANTIERT (Iron Cutting Guaranteed). Blade also has the etching of the King of Saxony’s royal cypher, featuring a gilt crown and initials on the ricasso. The grip is covered with fishskin and brass twist wire to the grip. The blade also still has the buffer pad intact. The blade is about 1 1/8 inches wide at the ricasso and approx 32 1/2 inches in length. I would categorize this as a Grosser (Big) blade due to the width and length of the blade. Steel-based plated scabbard with two steel scabbard rings, scattered rust speckling coming through the scabbard plating. Nice average condition Saxony Officer sword portepee with nice age toning. Overall, it’s very nice looking hard to find an officer’s sword.
