ICARO RHODES MADONNA of Phileremos Majolica ceramic tile plaque school Vietri

Description: MEASURES:Height: 3,74 inch ; Width: 3,74 inch ; Depth: 0,197 inch .CONDITIONS:Excellent general condition, only a small restoration on the top right corner, excellently done and barely visible (see photo carefully). Item description:Fabulous, very rare majolica tile, very hard ceramic, depicting the Madonna del Fileremo di Rodi, made by the famous Icaro di Rodi factory, finished in pure gold and with light bas-relief enamel, signed on the back "Madonna del Fileremo - Icaro Rodi ". The paternity of this object can be attributed to some of the greatest artists of the German Vietri period who collaborated, since 1930, with the Icaro di Rodi manufacture.Useful information for evaluating the object:The icon of the Madonna of Rhodes is absolutely one of the most venerated representations of the Madonna, especially by the order of the knights of Malta, it is famous and preserved in the National Art Museum of Cetinje in Montenegro, since the end of the Second World War. The patina covering the object is beautiful, dating back to 1930 - 1940, small restoration present on the upper right corner, superbly done. The peculiarity of this tile, unfortunately very difficult to show in the photo, is that in addition to the rich and beautiful gilding, it has a light bas-relief enamelling, especially as regards the red enamel of the robe, which protrudes slightly from the surface compared to the face, giving a wonderful three-dimensionality to the Madonna's face.Information on artist and/or manufacturer:The Icaro artistic ceramic factory was active in Rhodes (Greece) during the Italian occupation. Founded in 1929 by some potters from Faenza, it produces ceramics for furnishings with oriental decorations, often inspired by Iznik motifs, as well as deco-inspired artefacts. Among the collaborators of the factory, active until 1944, we remember the Austrian Gunther Studemann, Sophia Van Stolk and the Austrian painter Hegor Huber. In the photo immediately below this description we have put additional historical information for those who want to learn more, with some of the brands used including ours. ENTER OUR EBAY SHOP .PORCELAINS, CERAMICS, TERRACOTTE, BRONZE, PAINTINGS, FURNITURE, GLASS AND MUCH MORE AS, FOR EXAMPLE: .OUR COMMERCIAL POLICYMy name is Gabriele, an art lover, since I was very young I started collecting paintings, porcelain, bronzes, glass, ceramics etc. and over time I gained vast experience and a very refined taste in recognizing beauty and then, little by little, I also transferred it to my son Nicolò. Now I have decided, with the help of my son, to sell my entire collection, created in over 35 years of research and selection of beauty, quality and art and then perhaps continue with a real buying and selling activity. We have chosen to sell online and therefore we have adapted to the prices of the online art market, always trying to offer extremely competitive prices compared to the competition. Very often our prices are lower than what we could achieve by taking the objects to auction houses, but selling at auction is an extremely long process and does not produce any customers for us, so we prefer to earn less, but aim to create a excellent clientele over time, earning more on the quantity than on a higher profit on the single piece, which we could obtain by selling it in auction houses. REMEMBER TO PUT ME IN THE FOLLOWING SELLERS LISTFor any additional information or clarification we are at your complete disposal, so contact us via message here on eBay SHIPPING WORLDWIDE - RETURN ALWAYS ACCEPTED.The cost of packaging is also calculated in the shipping cost, and everything has increased by 19% because both ebay and paypal also take fees on the shipping cost OUR SHIPMENTS:.Our shipments cost a little more than the average, but they are all shipments with professional packaging. Double box with a lot of bubble wrap around the object and a lot of soft material in the large cavities on all sides between the two boxes. This means that the package is much larger and heavier and therefore the cost of shipping increases, not to mention all the work necessary to carry out a similar packaging and the cost of the various materials used.
