Description: This listing is for one (1) Vintage Hughes HeNe laser head circa 1972-1979 NON WORKING. The "use-by date" expired about 40-45 years ago. :) These consist of a two-Brewster HeNe laser plasma tube inside a goldish-plated (alodyned?) cylinder with dielectric mirrors in the end-caps. The diagram shows what's inside. The tube can be removed intact with several hours of tedious fiddly work without destroying the metal cylinder, or less if the cylinder is sacrificed. The mirrors should be in good usable condition but the plasma tubes leaked up to air a long long time ago. The heads are in good to excellent cosmetic condition, though cleanup will be required and the labels may be somewhat rough. These are 3184Hs like the 2 on the right in the main photo. There are 3 types: 3184H, 3193H and 3176H. The first two have red and green wires for the high voltage; the last has a black Alden cable coming out the side. Your choice if you care, else my choice. ;-) Cool-looking laser head for your laser geek collection, almost 50 years old. There are not too many of these around anymore. They also make decent hammers and can thus serve a dual purpose. ;-) First come first serve for the nicest ones. No warranty (except for the hammer), no returns, sorry.
