It was published by Macmillan and Co., Limited, of St. Martin’s Street, London, in 1934. An 18th century family saga about Francis Herries, the "rogue" of the title. A violent and impetuous man, a faithless husband and a capricious father, the Borrowdale valley (his home for 40 years) in the English Lake District and his unrequited love for gypsy Mirabell Starr are the two forces which drive him. The book measures 7.5 inches x 5.25 inches x 1.25 inches and has 736 pages. The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with wear/chips to the ends of the spine and is a little blemished to the original cloth hardback cover. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with no loose or missing pages. There is no dust-jacket. A wonderful vintage edition.
