This is a Natural Quality piece of leather because it could have some "markings" caused by the animals life experiences such as barbed wire cuts or wounds that healed and left scars, insect bites, creases, growth marks, veins, freckles, etc. Leather with these markings are considered nature's signatures, and this indicates to the public that the product is genuine leather and enhances the character on a finished product. Our Natural Quality Selection has nothing to do with Second grade or "B" Grade as described by tanneries where up to 20% of the leather hide can have manufacturing defects. Still, please check pictures to make sure this is a piece you want. Hot Stuffed: Leather that has been nourished and conditioned with unrefined oils and greases. This is achieved without the use of water and emulsifiers and gives a much richer feel. Hot stuffed leathers typically exhibit pull-up and good water resistance. Mill-Dyed: Leather that has had dyes introduced during retannage. Also referred to as drum-dyed. Air-Dried Hand Glazed: Leather that has been polished with a glass rod. Aniline Finished: Dyes and finishes that contain no pigment. When used on leather they provide a rich, clear stain that allows the natural character of the article to be seen.
