Description: Now wait a minute! Jeepcaptain have you lost your mind? That's not a Colorado and Southern engine! That's a Burlington Northern! That's true, but here's the back story:The largest steam locomotive that the C&S ran was #537 which was leased from the Burlinton and carried the Burlinton Route herald on its tender the entire time it was on the C&S. 1930-1939. See "Narrow Gauge Pictorial, Motive Power of the Colorado & Southern" pages 219,220,221. You can clearly see the Burlington herald on the tender and CB&Q on the cab. The only outside frame loco on the C&S. And, as you may or may not know the C&S was bought out by the Burlington and for many years the Green Burlington diesels had C&S on the cab sides. So, there's your excuse to run this Burlington engine on your narrow gauge. And for you C&S'ers who are still operating in the 20th century, I've left thei engine to operate DC only. This is a custom made narrow gauge engine DC only. It is a used Athearn SW7 that has been modified and re-gauged to run on HOn3 track with custom installed Kadee HOn3 couplers. The shell is a stock Athearn Burlington with a fresh coat of clear to shine it up a bit. This engine runs smoothly with good throttle response and good slow speed. I installed an LED light in the front and rear headlight. Some adjustment of your layout scenery may be required for clearance. This engine doesn't care about dusty track. It's heavy enough to still make electrical contact unlike the light little narrow gauge steam engines. It doesn't care about pulling up grades because it's heavier and pulls better. So if you have dodgy, dusty, grades and delicate little steam engines that don't run well with dirty wheels, you'll love this engine for its ability to add much needed reliability to your road!Wear out your layout without wearing out your expensive brass loco's and have some fun at the same time! New message from: k****4 (173)I bought one [like this] a couple months ago [several years ago now]. I am using it to pull my cleaning consist of aneraser car followed by a converted liquid track cleaning car.It has really relieved frustration of cleaning my narrow gauge track.I can do projects and let this thing run. When I'm ready to run my overpriced locomotives, the tracks are ready and clean.Great ideaThanksDear jeepcaptain, Note to anyone who's not sure if they want this (or a custom engine he'll build for you) I can say that I've bought 3 of these engines over the years and they are hands down the best deal if you're looking for affordable motive power. If you model in HOn3 (I model the East Broad Top) you just can't go wrong with these engines. CraigNew message from: c*****n (375)Thanks I am thrilled to have another one of your engines. They perform so well they are my everyday motive power Message from JxxxU,The package arrived in only three days. The locomotive is heavy and runs well even on dirty track. I wanted a good narrow gauge locothat would run right out of the box without hours of tinkering andthis is just as it is described. Highly recommended. Please email with any questions before bidding.
