Hockley Abbey Works was the name of the John Rabone factory in Birmingham, England, for many years, and it appears that they used Hockley Abbey as a brand name.The leather case appears to be original to the rule, based on the fit of the rule inside the case. Condition of the rule is good to very good, with tarnish on the brass fittings. The wood surfaces are very good, and very consistent in color. All 3 hinges operate nicely. This rule should have 3 pins, but 1 is missing. All 3 receiving holes are in good condition and not excessively worn.Condition of the leather case is fair to good, showing lots of wear but not torn, and the snap closure operates easily. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which for this past season was October 2 to January 22. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars?
