Description: The Douglas DC-4 is a four piston engine propeller driven airliner manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Military versions of this aircraft were the C-54 for the United States Air Force and R5D for the United States Navy. This aircraft provided service during World War 2, the Berlin Airlift and into the 1960's. From 1945, it provided service with many civil airlines around the world. British Eagle International Airlines was founded in 1948 and was a major British independant airline that operated from that year until it went into liquidation in 1968. It operated scheduled and charter services on a domestic, international and transatlantic basis over the years. This aircraft with registration "G-ASPN" had a very colorful history. It began its service life as a C54-A-10-DC for the United States Air Force in July of 1944. It went through four more owners before arriving at British Eagle in February of 1964. It flew for only one year before it was sold to another carrier. It ended its service life with GLM Aviation in 1986 where it provided service until it was eventually scrapped (how sad). This Hobby Master 1:200 die cast reproduction of the British Eagle International Airlines Douglas DC-4 is a rare, highly detailed, historical model. It is an assembled model and can be displayed in the ground configuration with supplied landing gear, or in flight. It has highly detailed British Eagle graphics from the 1950's and 1960's. It comes with a display stand. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only. NOTE: This is a rare model at an exceptional cost. This is the only one available.
