Description: Scratchbuilt Large HO Structure: This is a model of the Hinkle Milling Co. of Thomasville North Carolina, as built by "The O&W Shop" of Clyde NY in Dec. of 1989. Yep, I never heard of them either, it was probably one guy working out of his own basement. It's based on plans in the Dec. 1982 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman magazine, which I will include a copy of if you want. This has a 12x16 footprint including the office and includes the original 1883 structure and direct additions, plus grain bins/silos. The grain elevator and some of the pipes have been dislodged, because this is the tallest part of the structure. There are some loose pieces in the box it came in. There are some missing pieces (stack or vent tops, probably other things). Some modeler's license has taken place with the arrangement of the grain bins, as well as with some of the window and door placement. The Agway signs also differ from the magazine plans. This is a very nice looking structure if you have the room for it. I am aware that the AMB LaserKit 2001 Dabler Mill is based on these same plans and builds most of the same structure. That kit retails for $299.95 and includes a different rear arrangement and elevator position, perhaps reflecting an earlier incarnation of the original building. In all likelihood shipping this will cause pieces to come loose as the USPS or FedEx use it as a football between being vibrated around on the truck. Plan to have to make repairs. It came to me in a vegetable box and I will box that in a second box to help protect it. Packing will be fairly tedious on this - I would much prefer to have someone come pick it up in person. Price is a guess but kind of based on the AMB kit price. I took the shipping option off after a rude customer threatened me because I don't have boxes on hand to pack this right now.
