Description: HO Brass Pacific Electric #1624 Steeple Cab Switcher. Built by Orion Models of Japan for Suydam in 1975. XLNTThese heavy switchers were the last locomotives to enter service on the Pacific Electric's vast system in Southern California. The 13 locos in the series (#1619 to 1631) were assembled in the Torrance Shops in 1924 and most were in service until the end of PE's operations in 1957. The #1624 continues in service at the Orange Empire Ry. Museum in Perris, California.A number of production runs were imported by Suydam, beginning in 1960. This is from the last run in 1975. It features all-wheel drive. This model test runs quite smoothly, with characteristic gear noise. It indicates no signs of wheel wear and has most likely been stored in its original box since purchased new. There is virtually no tarnishing on the model.The original box is supplied.
