Description: "History of the Princes de Conde in the XVIth and XVIIth Centuries" is a 2 volume set written by M. Le Duc D'Aumale. This is the English translation by Robert Brown Borthwick, published in 1872 in London by Richard Bentley and Son. 5.5"x9" hardcovers, they have 411 and 448 pages respectively. The Princes de Conde were part of an important noble French family which eventually became known as the House of Bourbon. They were involved at the highest levels of French politics for many years, the details of which are provided here. The set is in acceptable condition, with no dust jackets. The original blindstamped blue cloth boards are frayed at the extremities, have edge wear, bumped corners. The hinges are cracked, and Vol. 1 is cracked at page 289. Both volumes have the bookplates on the front pastedown (of Robert Coleman Hall Brock, the Philadelphia lawyer). Vol. 1 has a blindstamp on the ffep, pencil marks on the next two pages. Vol. 2 has pencil marks on the 2nd page and back pastedown. Both have occasional foxing. Most pages in Vol. 2 are uncut. The bindings are firm.
