Description: This 28 inch rip saw has a Keystone in the etch, one of several tells it is Disston made. The eagle in the medallion is that last type used before changing to the keystone on Disston saws. Size and font make it the earliest type etch Disston used. I would bet late 1860's if I had to bet, details on these second line saws are hard to come by. The condition on this saw is fantastic in my book, not mint but not messed with, plenty of old patina but still some brightness to the plate, hard to find them like this and you'll find dozens of 12's from the same period for one of these! For information on old tools the resources at Mid West Tool Collectors Association are top notch. They have links collected there for everything antique tool related.https://mwtca.org/useful-reference/ Make sure to check out my other items, I will combine shipping just wait for the invoice. I am in a selling mood, it's not Christmas yet but schit has to go, offers is set to let me see offers that I don't think I'll take, might change my mind..........
