Description: This is an "Earthrise" moon jar. It was hand made in the 1970s by artist Helen Garriott, then-wife of astronaut Owen Garriott. It commemorates the photograph taken on Christmas Eve, 1968, by William Anders during the Apollo 8 mission. Here, the bowl represents the moon. The knob on top of the lid would represent the earth, as seen in the famous photograph. Excellent condition with original paperwork.
