Description: This is a 9 page copy of the original Heathkit OEM Modification Kit Instructions (SBM-102-1). It was authored and produced by Heathkit Co. to correct a design deficiency problem in the following transceivers * HW-100 * SB-100 * SB-101 * SB-101W * SB-102 with last 4 digits of serial number lower than 5446 The plate tank circuit of V6, the second transmitter mixer, is used in the receive mode as the plate circuit of V10, the receive RF amplifier. Due to the tube Miller effect, additional capacity is required when receiving to permit the driver preselector to peak at the same dial setting in both transmit and receive modes. This modification uses automatic diode switching to add the required compensating capacity. This mod will increase receiver gain about 3-5 db and provide a bit more drive to the 6146 finals to operate at their peak capacity.
