This price covers not only the actual cost of the heat pack but also the extra postage it generates to ship your order. Each heat pack adds an additional 8 onces (1/2 pound) to each order. In some cases, that changes the shipping cost with USPS to an additional $3.00. I do pack all of my orchids extra well. And in most instances a heat pack is not necessary. 72 hours is exactly 3 days. If it takes longer than that for your package to get to you, then the heat pack is just extra weight. Packages containing live plants should not be allowed to stay on the porch or in mail boxes for any length of time during cold weather. IF your plants suffer cold damage during shipping, do not contact me. I assume no responsibility for the weather. You can however file a claim through your local Post Office for the cost of the plants that were damaged. USPS covers Priority packages up to $100.
