Description: Harper's Magazine January 1973 Arthur Bremer An Assassin's Diary. Issue features the diary of the would be-assassin of President Richard Nixon, Arthur Bremer. When Bremer couldn't get to Nixon, he focused on presidential candidate and Alabama Gov. George Wallace instead, shooting Wallace and paralyzing him from the waist down. Bremer was tried, convicted and spend 35 years in prison for his crime. His diary would become the basis for the Martin Scorsese film Taxi Driver, screenplay by Paul Schrader. In turn, Taxi Driver became an obsession for John Hinckley, Jr., driving him to stalk actress Jodie Foster and attempt the assassination of Ronald Reagan in 1981. Harper's later published Bremer's diary as a book, but this 1973 magazine version was its first time in print. Good condition. See photos. No returns. Buyer pays shipping.
