I will try and list a variety of pieces each week and hopefully you will find items of interest to you. This Harmony Kingdom box figurine named "Big Gulp" was carved by Peter Calvesbert in 2006. It was hand painted/finished by local craftsmen in the Cotswold area of England. Here, he recently saw a python that had swallowed a sheep and was blocking a road! Another picture showed a Burmese python that had apparently burst while swallowing a two meter alligator. Interestingly, snakes do not chew their food. Instead, they have very flexible lower jaws and skull joints which allow them to open their mouths wide enough to swallow prey whole, even if it is larger in diameter than the snake itself. Occasionally, snakes have been known to die from trying to swallow an animal that is too big. In “Big Gulp”, a very rare Small Treasure Jest with a worldwide edition of only 200, Peter has taken snakes’ unusual digestion to the extreme!
