Description: Harry P. Will was the ancestor of a the founder of a tool company that in the early 20th Century became known for production of guns produced primarily for North America. That market disappeared when Hitler gained control of Germany. Like other industries during World War II, the factory was damaged. When the War ended and it was learned that the factory was located in an area to be controlled by the Soviet Union, young Harry Will borrowed trucks from the US Army and transported salvaged equipment outside the Soviet control area. In 1948, Will established “Harry P. Will Werkzeugfabrik GmbH” and resumed production of Pliers. Over time the company was once again successful in North America and Mr. Will became known as “Plier King”. In the 1950s, he emigrated to Canada. Among the domestic customers for HAPEWE’s tools were German automobile manufacturers, including Porsche. This style Plier was included in the Tool Kit for 911 Porsche’s from 1972 to 1976. How do we know? Well . . . we don’t, but people who claim to know stuff say so. If you are restoring such a Porsche or have one and wish to make it “correct” you probably know whether this HAPEWE is the right one for you. It is in remarkably good condition and shows very little evidence of use (see images). There is no loss of Plating and the Pivot moves smoothly with no side-to-side flexing. With little effort, the Pliers would fit properly in a Tool Kit or as an addition to a Show-and-Tell Collection.
