Description: White metal scale with glass-fronted dial and detachable steel post. Can weigh up to 25 pounds. There is an adjustment dial allowing th user to tare the scale as desired. Hanson Model 2000 ‘Family Scale’ was patented in 1898 and manufactured in Chicago until the 1960’s. This unit was likely from the 1930’s or 1940’s based on the very art deco typography used on the scale measurements. It was marketed by Montgomery Ward and sold throughout the country through their mail order catalog. Approximately 9 ½ inches tall, base is 5 ½ inches square, dial is 6 ½ diameter. Scale post is 5 ½ inches square. Condition is very good. No cracks or damage to dial, no dents or breaks on body. I believe it was painted white at some point. Someone carved “Mariole 74033” on the bottom.
