Description: 100% Huacaya alpaca natural color and dark brown dyed fiber was combined to spin a skein of yarn. Total yardage is 108 yards. The skein is 10 wraps per inch which puts it in the Aran range of yarn. The skein is 2 ply and has been washed. Alpaca is different than wool. The fiber does not have the crimp and spring of wool. So yarns made with alpaca are good for draping patterns like shawls, cowls, mittens etc. Also a person may be use to wearing soft wools next to skin but alpaca may not be tolerated.
