Description: Stunning rare antique hand carved figures of Saint Joseph and the Virgin Mary. Possibly made of golden oak, but most likely highly sought after burlwood. Amazing attention to detail. Intricate carving throughout. Moving devotional rendition of Joseph & Mary. Would make a wonderful addition to a private chapel or den area. These figures came out of a church in upstate NY. on verso you can see the holes where they were mounted on the wall. Created by the talented master Baumeister Mr. Franz Feigeler either before leaving Germany or shortly after his arrival to the US. The artist designed many sculptures that are showcased around the US in Cathedrals, etc... Travel records indicate Mr. Feigeler resided in Altenberge Germany, departed from Bremen and arrived in New York on October 25th, 1927. He became a US citizen in 1933. Condition: Overall good condition for age. Figure of Virgin Mary, area of small separated wood on back, indicative of age.
