Creators did not add a bookplate, but did lay in a congratulatory letter from Touchstone top executives..If the book was a prop in the movie, there's no evidence of it in the text or preliminaries....and it certainly would not have been bound in morocco during production! We haven't found another example of the 1987 edition of The Oxford Shakespeare issued with leather bindings. It's familiar as a teaching paperback edition, though there's a possibility, maybe, that Clarendon Press issued some special sets with leather bindings. More likely, the book was bound locally in LA as a custom job, ordered by studio executives (or more likely by an anonymous assistant). The edition was probably selected from trade editions most readily available at bookstores in 1994..Renaissance Man starring Danny DeVito, and directed by Penny Marshall has generated $24 million for Touchstone/Buena Vista after a cost of $40 million (not including the bookbinding).
