The film pioneer produced from 1914 up to the early sixties about 2.000 movies - almost exclusively comedies! Probably no other filmmaker gave the world more to laugh about than he did: with his comedy stars like Laurel & Hardy, Harold Lloyd or "Our Gang". The film is presenting amongst others a lot of funny movie clips and interviews with Roach, his stars, family members, film historians and comedians, a look behind the scenes, amazing facts about the comedy stars and never before published private footage and movie clips. Director Andreas Baum, who also produced the documentary “Laurel and Hardy: Their Lives and Magic”, tells the amazing story of Hal Roach and of his stars. The Bonus DVD contains unpublished private film footage and rare and/or never before published movie clips and films like “The Hal Roach Studios during the 2nd World War”, the Harold Lloyd Comedy “Just Nuts”, extracts of “Joel Gentry Goes Hollywood”, the Roach Announcement of Harry Langdon and additional interviews, for example with Roach, his daughter Maria, Harold Lloyds granddaughter Suzanne or Annette D´Agostino Lloyd.
