Description: An exceptional Barry Wilson wide cuff bracelet in sterling silver, signed on the back in his unmistakable "B W". Barry is a world-renowned carver from the Haisla Nation of Kitimat, known for his exceptionally fine, tightly intricate line work which set his skill apart from other carvers who do minimal line work or their lines are much thicker and further apart. These fine lines appear as if he masterfully weaved a thread through the silver. One look at any other Pacific Northwest bracelet and you will see the difference in the linework. With depth and precision, a butterfly is depicted suckling the nectar from an endemic BC flower, the Tiger Lily. The long proboscis of the butterfly's mouth is elegantly carved, and both the butterfly and flower have the eyes of spirits on the wings and petals. Insect art like this is rare. Perfect vintage collection, from the mid to late 1990s. This was in storage for 30 years from a woman who owned a shop on Vancouver Island. A rare investment piece by one of Canada's best, with a delightful scene reminiscent of spring and summer along the coast when tiger lilies are in bloom and butterflies are in the air. All offers are considered, and for American buyers, this will be shipped from the USA to save you on duties.
