He named the series: "The Virginia Regimental Histories Series.” His first book was published in 1982 and the last was published in 2004. More than 200 different books were published with the imprint “H. E. Howard, Inc., Lynchburg, Virginia.” Most, if not all, were printed by J. P. Bell of Lynchburg, Virginia. I have many of his Regimental Histories Series listed on my e-bay site. Collecting them is addictive and very rewarding. Mr. Howard also published very special books commemorating individual battles, campaigns and events. These were published with a blue cloth hardback cover and were issued without dust jackets.
