Description: This 18 inch, 11 ppi Henry Disston & Son No. 12 panel saw is an outlier in the No. 12 series, no carving on the handle and the use of split nuts. I've heard others like it exist but I have never seen another in hand. The etch is deep but not dark, hard to get a good picture as the smooth plate reflects in a drastic way. The plate has a bunch of grey speckled patina with a slight bow in the last several inches at the toe. The handle is solid, looks like the nuts have been tightened at one time but never removed, I don't see any repairs needed or done prior. The wear pattern in the finish shows right where the mans finger sat when he ran it, wonder how many hours that would take? I think a knucklehead could make this saw run fine again if given a chance but it really belongs on the wall for what it is. For information on old tools the resources at Mid West Tool Collectors Association are top notch. They have links collected there for everything antique tool related.https://mwtca.org/useful-reference/ Make sure to check out my other items, I will combine shipping just wait for the invoice. I am in a selling mood, it's not Christmas yet but schit has to go, offers is set to let me see offers that I don't think I'll take, might change my mind..........
