Description: When I was a Professor of Military Science in the 1990's I used these two softcover books as the basis of my course taught to college students in the Texas A&M System. The course was mandatory for all students majoring in History and was also required of all cadets taking Army Senior ROTC. "A Guide to the Study and Use of Military History" was printed by the Center of Military History. The book starts off with a discussion of why the study of history is important; that essay alone is worth the cost of this book. This book covers the very foundation of our country through WW-2. It even covers military museums, military art, and military collections. The 2nd book, "American Military History", covers our European Heritage all the way through Vietnam. It also has chapters on why the study of history is so important to our present and future. The book is loaded with maps and illustrations. This book was the standard source of info for ALL Army officers studying military history in the late Vietnam-era and later. It's gone through lots of updates over the decades but all of this info is timeless and can't be improved upon. I'm 71 years old and it's time to pass these on, esp. to someone younger who really enjoys our country's military history.
