Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a very old Buffet Crampon & Cie. Bb soprano clarinet mouthpiece that is made of grenadilla wood. It has one ring up, and one down, with the Buffet logo below the lower ring. This version is referred to as a 'bottom logo'. I would say this is beyond just 'vintage'. It is more in the realm of 'antique'. I would guess that it dates to the late 1800's or very early 1900's. That is when wood mouthpieces were still in common use. By the 1920's they had pretty much been phased out. The tip opening measures .045" (1.15mm), which is larger than I would have expected, so this might have been refaced. If that is the case, then it looks like a good job. That being said, you might want to send this to a trusted re-facer for evaluation and correction if deemed necessary. Aside from the possible re-facing, this mouthpiece is in very good condition. There are no cracks. The facing is perfectly smooth. There is just a hint of tooth wear on the beak. There is some ligature scratching on the exterior though. The cork is brand new. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! 12/21/24-7
