Description: Offered for sale is an antique canning jar in a green alkaline glaze with plenty of glaze runs and a bit of crackling, originating in the mid to late 19th century possibly in North Carolina. Wider at the shoulders and tapering in a semi-ovoid form, it has a flared rim with a ledge within for a lid sealer. There are inclusions in the clay and a ribbed feel to the sides, not unexpectedly. There are some outer rim chips as shown in the photos, but the jar is without cracks or other damage. It stands 9 1/2 inches tall with base and rim diameters each of 4 1/4 inches. Shipping is by USPS Priority insured, and there is no handling charge. I invite you to view other items I have listed. Thanks for looking, and enjoy the hunt.
