" Shows, this Road Trips Bonus Disc CD captures the Band on 10/17/1978 & 10/21/1978 at the Winterland arena in San Francisco during a 5-night ' Homecoming ' from the amazing & surreal experience of playing 3-nights in front of the Pyramids & Sphinx at the Gizah Sound & Light Theater in Cairo, Egypt. This was a fine chance & occasion for the band members to collectively spread the magic that they experienced on that monumental journey. As it also stands, this would be one of the final runs / stands of the Grateful Dead playing the Fan ( & Band ) favorite Winterland Arena on their Bay Area home-turf. This Bonus Disc CD features tracks from both 10/17/78 & 10/21/78 and is simply fantastic -- truly one of the very-finest Road Trips Series ' Bonus Disc ' releases. There is clearly " love in the air ", and the synergy between the Fans & the Band is captured beautifully in this audio-mix. From a personal standpoint, this is one ( if not ' the ' ) Road Trips Series releases I was most excited to receive when I heard it would be released back in 2008. Not only beautiful & well-played tunes from this Late-'70's G.D. " Era " like Bertha > Good Lovin' - Estimated Prophet - He's Gone - and Around & Around ... but this one also features a Mesmerizing ! & Historic " Special-Treat " in the form of " If I Had The World To Give " !!! There are many moments on this release that border / equal music perfection - at least to my humble Grateful Dead ears. This is without question a Must-Hear & Must-Have, in my opinion. The He's Gone here will just make your spine tingle, and Had the World to Give ?!! Well, here's my super-short personal story : I was listening to this song on my 10/17/78 analog tape ( through the head-phones - naturally ... ) at just before midnight on 8/8/95. After the tune, I hung'em up, turned off the tape-deck and went to bed. The next morning my better half called me letting me know that Jerry had passed. So, even though it can sometimes be a bit tough to hear for me - every today, decades later ... I'm all the more grateful to own this legendary live-track in pristine A + quality. It's so-Thankfully ! included beautifully on this Bonus Disc, and is a must -hear / must-have, no question. A Very-Very ! Special G.D. release ... and one of the Finest ! of the Magical !
