Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a STUNNING Sterling Silver overlay Art Glass vase, c. 1890-1910. Measures 10" high with a 3 1/2" diameter base. Weighs 1.4 pounds. This incredible vase has a thickly applied layer of silver overlaid on a heavy ruby or cranberry glass body and has an unusual tulip shape. The silver design features flowers and foliage and covers a majority of the glass with the rich cranberry glass showing through the design. The upper edge of the vase has a silver rim and entire base of the vase is overlaid in silver. There is a fancy 3-letter monogram "H C N" on the silver upper base. Although we did not find the Sterling stamp on this vase, we do guarantee that this vase is Sterling Silver overlay. We believe it was made in the U.S. by Gorham, Alvin or one of the other prominent silver companies operating in the U.S. at the turn-of-the-century. Loetz in Austria was also known for his silver overlay pieces although much of his work had the silver applied over iridescent glass. Both the glass and the silver overlay on this fabulous vase are in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
