Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Barb on Large & Small Lines - All Galvanized" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier No.355-B). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Lines are of different gauges with barbs on small gauge lines. Line wires and barbs are all galvanized. Barbs are two pointed made from a single round barbing wire. Barbing wire is wrapped twice around the smaller line wire. Sample is 18" in length and has six barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Sample shows minimal pitting. Barbs may show very light bending, but there are no broken or missing points.
