Description: OUR BIGGEST SALE &FREE USA SHIPPING! I've relisted this at the sale price due to buyer error. One of the prizes remaining in my personal collection of 51 early G&L basses, it's one of the very few that I kept with the 'pointy' transition headstock. When I got it over 30 years ago it didn't matter that it wasn't a paddle headstock because I was more interested in tone & feel. This one is all-original and had never been taken apart until I had to for purposes of dating it for the listing. It's got all the early features and black is actually a very hard color to find on early L1000's ( though more common on SB-1 & SB-2 basses). Includes the original tolex hard case that has the fuzzy black lining. The black lacquer finish has no finish checking probably due to the alder body plus the fact that it has been well taken care of and stored properly all it's life. There are a few dimples and dings but overall the bass is very clean. It has the crinkle black hardware on the bridge, control plate and neck plate which is correct for the period. The single pickup has (8) pole pieces with the small allen-key adjustment. There is some oxidation on the pole pieces but they all turn freely. The maple neck has a rosewood fretboard with 21 clean frets. It's very clean but there are 2 very shallow scratches on the heel just above where it meets the body. These have no effect on playing. The nickel tuners are in great shape with natural patina. The pots date 26th week of 1983, the body is 'May 10, 1983 and the neck is stamped 'Mar 29 1984'. It's a true transition model and the finish 'footprints' on the neck heel and body cavity indicate it's all factory original. It's a satisfying bass to play and there is nothing like the tone of this pickup with a rosewood fretboard! Weighs 9 1/2 lbs which is nice & light for an L1000 from this era. FREE USA SHIPPING (to the Lower 48) and a 30-day return privilege if you are not satisfied for any reason. NO shipping to Alaska & Hawaii. The Bass Palace will be listing a few more choice G&L basses from The Swami's personal Hoard this month & next along with the 'usual' selection of assorted beauties & misfits so check back often!
