Murphy Lab Acoustic Collection Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab Collection was announced in 2021. The "Ultimate Vintage Reissues" including the Murphy Lab Collection Les Paul Standard use the latest technology based on scientific verification to age new guitars to bring out the look and feel of vintage, and have been highly praised by musicians and guitarists around the world. And in 2023, the long-awaited acoustic guitar will be released from the Murphy Lab Collection. The thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top, mahogany body, and advanced X bracing are made of red spruce and are glued together. The wide nut width of 1.77 inches, 19 frets, and historical V-shaped mahogany neck reproduce the vintage feel. The Murphy lacquer used is a different compound from the Murphy lacquer used at the Nashville Custom Shop. Murphy Lab Acoustic products use a harder lacquer than that used on regular products so that weather checking (lacquer checking) occurs naturally. As a result, the guitar itself responds very sensitively to the vibration of the strings, resulting in an extremely wide dynamic range.
