Gerundino Fernandez flamenco negra guitar (1980)

Description: Elegant sounding flamenco negra, the tone is very misterioso, dark yet with great clarity and separation and focus. Very easy to play, set up at 3.0mm on the bass (at the 12th fret) and 2.25mm on the treble. 660mm scale and 52mm nut. I suspect the top of this guitar was refinished at some point, as the "Conde orange" is not something that Gerundino did, to my knowledge. There are also 3 repaired cracks in the top that are under the orange lacquer. They are behind the bridge on the bass side, with one of them extending for about 4 inches in front of the bridge, running right along the bass end of the bridge. There are also 3 cleated cracks in the Brazilian rosewood of the back, one about 6 inches long, and the other two about 4 inches long. One is along the center seam and the other two are a few inches to the treble side. Thus, I am pricing this guitar pretty far below the normal market price for a Gerundino of this vintage. Again, this guitar has a stunning tone. If it has a weakness, it is only in regard to volume. I would not describe it as loud and powerful. I would say it has medium volume, with great balance and incredible playability. It has often been my favorite guitar to play in my living room because of its tone and playability, and it is great for recording. I haven't used it in performance because some of my other guitars have greater dynamic range in that context. Spruce top, rosewood back and sides. Please ask any questions and check out the video.
