Description: Gerry Rappel Brake Bar w/ SMC Oval Carabiner 1st Generation VINTAGE 1960's RARE Two hard to come by pieces of climbing history. The Gerry Rappel Brake Bar was sold by Gerry Mountain Sports in Boulder, CO ran by Gerry Cunningham, a well know mountaineer equipment supplier of the time period. The SMC Oval Carabiner is a 1st Generation from the late 1960's. SMC was one of the first aluminum oval carabiner manufacturers in the US in the 60's. There is no nose on the carabiner gate opening, and a simple u milled shape for the gate to close into. There is no rating stamped into the carabiner, also consistent with early production SMC. The carabiner and brake bar are in used vintage condition. Both items work as intended. See pictures for full description. Pictures are of the actual items you will receive.
