Now, to the best of my knowledge, there was never a Second Series of Germs officially issued by Worlds Of Wonder, so, I would assume that these may possibly be custom maderather than actual Marketing Proposal Samples, but your guess is as good as mine. Either way, they make a great and possibly unique addition to your GERMS collection. The card backs are all the same design as in the first picture. Roughly half of the card backs have varying degrees of red color staining as pictured, probably from being stackedon top of another GERM's red faced front during the card's initial assembly. The cards are a mock-up with a heavier card stock sandwiched between the printed fronts and backs. The Test Tubes are thin plastic with flat bottoms. Instead of a bubble, the tubes are held to the cards with red plastic tube holders, allowing each GERM to be removed and inspected and the Lab Report to be read, probably a necessary feature for possible review and pending approval by the GERM review board (if such a thing existed).Each GERM figure appears to be hand sculpted of either self hardening or oven hardened type of clay and each is hand painted. I have the complete set of 12 listed as pictured. I ran out of picture space, so the pictures of the last 2 GERMS are slightly abbreviated in content. Note that in some of the GERMS, the sticker on the top of the tube cap is coming loose and might need to be pressed down or possibly taped down with double sided tape in the future. I was going to list these individually, but then, being a completist type of collector myself, I took another collector's advice and am listing them as a complete set, so they will stay together. It would be a shame to break up this family, even if they are a family of GERMS. Regarding the price of $720 for the set - that comes out to $60 each - so please keep in mind that original first issue carded GERMS usually list for $45 to $65 individually when and if they are available...sometimes even higher.
