Description: Germany 100 Reichsmark. Converstion fund for German Foreign Debt. P-212 overprint on P-204. Rare! Available in CU (very minor staple hole). The Reichsmark (RM) served as the official currency of Germany from 1924 until the collapse of Nazi Germany in 1945. It continued to be utilized in the American, British, and French occupied zones of Germany until 20 June 1948. Subsequently, the Reichsmark was replaced by the Deutsche Mark, which became the currency of West Germany and later of reunified Germany after 1990. In the Soviet occupation zone, the Reichsmark remained in circulation until 23 June 1948, when it was succeeded by the East German mark. The Reichsmark was divided into 100 Reichspfennig. The term "Mark" originates from an ancient Germanic weight measurement, traditionally equivalent to half a pound, and was later associated with various coins; "Reich," meaning realm, derives from the official designation of the German state from 1871 to 1945, known as Deutsches Reich.
