Description: German Notgeld or “emergency money” in English from the 1920’s. These notes were issued by cities and towns to be used as a stop gap measure to currency shortages at the time from people hoarding silver coins and government issued bills quickly losing value after the First World War. Most towns/cities issued notes that made them unique to the area. So if your region was famous for farming, manufacturing, religious significance etc. these themes would often make their way onto the Notgelds that were distributed. This combined with the very unique and often intricate artwork made these bills a collectors item for numismatics around the world!!! Please check out my other items!!!
