Description: Georgian Footed Creamer Lion Crest Samuel Meriton Sterling Silver 1750 English Georgian sterling silver creamer, having 3 figural feet and flat scroll handle. Body is richly decorated with repousse shell, scroll, floral and bird patterns. On the front, there is an engraved Crowned Lion crest. Top edge features cut-work designs. Made by Samuel Meriton I, c. 1747-1755. Very similar creamer is in the Metropolitan Museum collection. This fabulous creamer is 1 5/8" in top diameter, 2 1/4" in base diameter, 3 3/8" from spout to handle, 3 1/2" tall and weighs 78.5 grams or 2.53 ozs Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
