Description: D’ARTAGNAN BOOKS These are a signed limited first editions (only volume one is numbered and signed) in good condition. They were privately printed by Cumann Sean-Eolaiy Nah-Eipeann (apologies if incorrectly spelt) in 1921. These books are number 864 from a limited edition of 1500. I will include a small cautionary note from T.Werner Laurie Ltd not to take these books to the USA. Many of the pages in the two volumes are still joined together. 'Heloise was the niece of the canon of Notre Dame, Fulbert, who entrusted her to Peter Abelard, a peripatetic teacher, for instruction. They were married secretly, and after the revelation of this marriage by Fulbert, he sent his men to castrate Abelard. Consequently, Heloise entered the convent of Argenteuil. Abelard was a French philosopher and theologian. This work tells their tale.' These are Limited 1st Editions / 1st Printings. Condition: Volume One Book - Very Good - rubbing/bumping/wear to the corners and edges, a slight spine lean, discolouration and some marking to the covers, a small tear to one page, slight marking to the page edges, discolouration to the page edges and a couple of pages, some darkening to the top page edges, a wave to the page block and tanning to the page edges. Dust Jacket - Average - rubbing/bumping/wear to the corners and edges, numerous small nicks and tears and marking, foxing, discolouration and creasing. The DJ is not price clipped, though there is no price evident.
