Description: This is a rare Tuesday evening, March 10th, 1953 (Opening Night) playbill from the Broadway revival of the GEORGE GERSHWIN, IRA GERSHWIN and DU BOSE HEYWARD American Folk Opera "PORGY AND BESS" at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. (This ambitious revival was produced for the first European tour of the musical which opened October 9th, 1952 at London's Stoll Theatre. After five months of performances throughout Europe, the production settled into New York's Ziegfeld Theatre on March 10th, 1953 for 305 performances before returning to the road.) .....
