Genuine Antique Sword - French Infanty officer's Saber model 1845

Description: Materials: steel, brass Selling a beautiful example of French Sabre/Sword for Infantry officers - model 1845 - from late XIX Century. An iconic model, well recognisable for its beautifully decorated brass guard, featuring a delicate floreal design. Sword is just over 90 cm/36 IN total length, with a 77 cm/30.5 IN long slightly curved steel blade (see pictures). Features a horn grip and beautifully decorated pommel. The blade is in really excellent conditions, its nice and clean, there are no dents and no signs of rust or pitting - there's just a few darker spots, but overall it's in really excellent conditions. the blade is also really very well marked: on the spine of the blade you can find the full description of manufacturer name, date of production and sword model, as was custom for french swords of the XIX Century (this one reads Manufacture National D'armes de Chatellerault - March 189(2?) - Adjuntant D'infanterie mod. 1845) , and you can also find sets of controllers' stamps at the base of the blade and on the brass guard - all these details are well visible in the pictures attached, and confirm that this piece is 100% original and antique, and makes this a very collectible item. The brass guard is intact with just few minor scratches as you'd expect on an original antique, there are no defects or ruptures to the delicate floral design, and the brass has been gently polished to bring back its original shine. The original horn grip in is very good conditions, however the original brass wire that would have been wrapped around the grip is long gone. Despite its, age this sword is still very solid and there is no play between the blade, the grip and the guard Comes to you in its original 1-ring steel scabbard - which is also marked with controllers stamps, and is totally rust-free, with just a nice level of patina and few darker spots, too. This is without a doubt a great item / gift idea for anyone interested in militaria / antiques, history or any swords lover looking for a truly unique item - the original markings make it very collectible and desirable, and the amazing conditions of the blade make it a great chance to own an amazing original piece at a very fair price. please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about this, or any other item in my shop! ..now to the boring (but important) bits..
