Description: This is a matted antique engraving from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, a weekly newspaper published in 1888. The prints in this series have text on the reverse, and are printed on what is called rag paper, an antique paper that is stronger and far more durable than the newspaper material we use today.TITLE: THE BIRTHDAY OF GENERAL GRANT -- PORTRAITS OF SOME OF THE PROMINANT CONFEDERATE OFFICERS INVITED TO ATTEND THE MEMORIAL BANQUET IN NEW YORK, APRIL 27th (See pictures for smaller text and details) ARTIST: NOT IDENTIFIED CONDITION: EXCELLENT / VERY GOOD -- The prints in this series are clear, clean, and bright. No foxing or tears. A really fine image. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines, and wide margins. (Note: Very soft folds at center. See pictures.) This print is about 135 years old and guaranteed to be original. It is an authentic old print from the aforementioned newspaper and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION.The visible part of the print, including the white border (if any) is about 10" x 15". Matted the print measures 16" x 20".
