Description: There are a handful of exceedingly rare astronaut biographies and autobiographies. Gemini by Virgil "Gus" Grissom is near the top of any space book collector’s list because it is one of the most difficult and collectible astronaut autobiographies to find in any printing or condition. This particular book is as good as it gets in terms of both rarity and condition. This is the nicest condition first edition, first printing (1st/1st) copy you will likely ever come across. This is not a library edition. The dust jacket has the price intact, has not been clipped in any way, and has been placed in a plastic dust jacket protector. See photos for all details. The condition is almost bookstore new, which is quite remarkable for a book published in 1968, a year after Grissom passed away in the Apollo 1 fire along with his crew mates, Ed White and Roger Chaffee. Since no signed copies of this book exist, this is the pinnacle printing (1st/1st) and likely finest condition of this book available. Issues: a slight indentation to the bottom left of the dust jacket at the crease; some dust/dirt marks on the back of the dust jacket near the bottom, along the left crease and to the right of the Grissom and Young photo; some very slight wear to the dust jacket edge at the bottom of the spine; and a slight discoloration visible only when the book is closed, located halfway down the page edges opposite the spine (an area approximately 1/8” x 1/3”). Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this amazing collectible.
