Description: This is a stage used and signed drumstick by possibly the greatest Italian drummer who ever lived, the amazing Furio Chirico. He started his career in the great jazz/prog group The Trip, then moved on to Arti E Mestieri, widely hailed as one of the best, legendary progressive rock bands of the 1970s. I won't try to list all of his work here but he is legendary in the drummer community for his fantastic ability. I was gifted this by Mr. Chirico at the annual Progday festival in North Carolina, when we were able to get A&M to come over and play. I was the stage manager. At a point near the end of their set the guitarist's amp kept cutting out and while they were playing l was able to determine it was caused by a loose tube in the amp (yes, he had a tube amp). No way to fix it immediately, the only solution was for me to hunker down behind the amp and hold the very hot tube in place with my fingers. The absolute best part of this was l was able to be onstage, about 3 feet from Furio, watching him play with absolute precision and fury, for about 10 minutes. That was one of the greatest experiences of my life. When they were finished the band gave me a shout out with a thank you at the end for keeping the amp working. I have this preserved on an audio recording and l am sure it is on video somewhere. Anyway, Furio gave me this afterward as a thank you. I hate having to part with it but l have to. Somewhere there is a photo of us laughing together after this happened which l would love to have. So, that is the story of where it came from.
