Description: My latest rescue bass to complete. This is a reinvented Greco EB420 from the early 70s, that came to me with a body that was essentially disintegrating. Long story short, I repaired and stabilized the body with epoxy, glue and thick coating of primer, car paint and top coat. Now it looks relatively tidy but still retains signs of it's original scars that shine through the new paint. It had no pickups and the bridge was rusted in place needed to be sawn off, drilled out and replaced with something else. The pickups are from a Fernandes Thunderbird copy, and sound great; big, round, deep and clear. I hooked them up to a 3 band EQ and it sounds huge with big booming lows and nice crisps highs, the EQ also has a nice colored mid range which really shines on the rear pickup. The neck was healthy, truss rod still fully operational, frets with plenty of life left. Some minor fret dressing was needed, but now it plays like a breeze. It was lacking a nut so I installed a brand new bone one and cut it nicely for optimal play. Body. Nyatoh wood Neck. Rosewood on 3 piece maple Scale. 33" Nut. Bone 40mm Grip. Thin c Tuners. Original Bridge. Non original, nickel plated diecast high mass type. Pickups. Fernandes Thunderbird type Preamp. 3 band with cut notch and boost, on 9v circuit. Controls. Vol, bal, bass, mid, treb.
