GORGEOUSLY BOUND first volume (of two) of this collection of poetry by Thomas Hood (1799–1845) , the esteemed English poet, author and humorist, best known for poems such as "The Bridge of Sighs" and "The Song of the Shirt" who wrote regularly for The London Magazine, Athenaeum, and Punch and later published a magazine largely consisting of his own works. Bound in full brown morocco leather, with five raised bands, gilt-stamped titles and black embossed decorations, with all edges gilt and marbled endpapers laid down. Contents just lightly toning. The front hinge is starting. Vintage bookplate to the front pastedown (from "Dakota Territory"). The boards are slightly worn and scuffed, particularly at the tips, ends and along the joints.
