The billhead reads “To Novelty Roller Mills, Dr. – Mark Evans, Proprietor – Nanufacturer of (misprint) – The Celebrated – Royal Crown Patent Leader Gold Dust and Beauty FLOUR”. At the top is Fort Worth Texas, ________188___. and a spot for the name of the person placing the order. On the left side of the billhead is a Stevens Roller Mill manufactured by the J.T. Noyes Mfg. Co. Buffalo, NY, also states “Capacity 200 Barrels Per Day”. The proprietor, Mark Evans seems to have been a major businessman in the Ft. Worth area, having a large grain elevator and sending massive shipments of wheat to Mexico by train, as well as doing business in Oklahoma (Indian Territory) and in Texas. With this billhead, it appears he was expanding his business to selling the roller mills as well. Billhead is in excellent condition, age related browning to the paper. No creases or tears, but paper is fragile being over 140 years old and needs to be handled with care. Please see photos.
