Frostproof is a good all round choice, especially for mass plantings in cooler climates, with a based recommendation for Zones 7, 8, 9 and 10A, with some sources citing successful plantings in Zones 6 and 11, as it is also quite tolerant of heat and high humidity. It matures as a mid sized bushy shrub with a self branching, rounded habit, cloaked in narrow pointed, glossy, medium green leaves. Semi-doubled flowers flowers are large at about 3 inches in diameter with a center crown atop a body of five slightly pinwheeled outer petals appear late in the Spring and continue til midsummer.
